The Lizzie Bennet Diaries

So if you haven't heard of this little piece of awesome yet you need to get out from under your rock and watch them. Which you can do here: http://www.youtube.com/LizzieBennet

Basically what this is is the most addictive webseries ever. It's an updated version of the classic Jane Austen novel Pride and Prejudice in which our darling Lizzie Bennet has had a modern reinterpretation. Nowadays Miss Elizabeth Bennet is a communication student who has decided to start vlogging with her best friend Charlotte Lu, who yes. is Charlotte Lucas.

There are so many things to love about this series. Its greatly entertaining and hugely interesting. Not only this but it also covers the important issues mentioned in the original book in a different way. The idea of a practical marriage instead of a marriage for love.

Watch it. Seriously. You will not regret it and will become seriously addicted.

And I just really want to say I love the way this particular interpretation of Pride and Prejudice is being done. I love that Charlotte Lucas is now Charlotte Lu, Lizzies best friend who is now awesome and Asian and great and editing videos. I adore that Mr Bingley is now Bing Lee, also Asian. It's fantastic to see a classic updated in a way that actually reflects how awesomely multicultural society now is.

Lizzie is a smart funny girl with her two awesome sisters. Jane works in fashion and is the sweetest girl ever and Lydia is the craziest awesome party girl ever. And you will love them all. Did I mention they also all have twitter accounts which you can follow? Jane, Lizzie, Lydia and Charlotte. So do Caroline and Bing and yes, Mr Darcy aka William Darcy.

I don't know what else to say to convince you, but if you still haven't left this page to go watch this show, well why the hell not?

Oh and by the way, it is partially produced by one half of the epic vlogbrothers, Hank Green.

Go watch! Now!

A lesson to be learned in time management.

Today I had a maths test on bivariate and univariate data. Yes, really, I do maths. I don't understand why either. It is a horrible subject and thankfully this will be the last year I ever ever ever do it. Then I will sell my ridiculously overpriced and insanely complex calculator and put my hands over my ears and sing very loudly whenever any of my friends decide to talk about their over-achiever maths classes that I have never been smart enough to do. And if they choose to gloat about this I will raise the topic of philosophy. We'll see who's stupid then.

However, for now I still have to participate in the arduous task of sitting through maths classes and taking tests. Like the one I had today. See the thing is, I have known about this test for about.... I don't know two weeks. When did I begin studying? This morning, on the train to school. And then I got into class and realised I didn't have a damn clue what I was being tested on. It was an interesting feeling.

I knew I wasn't prepared. I was okay with that. And the post I put up yesterday of my cinnamon rolls was definitely one of the reasons I wasn't prepared. As was the book The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder. And my latest attempt at writing a novel. This is my third one and is an idea I love with characters I love. I put off the writing of it a lot by doing the awesome inception-esque thing of procrastinating my procrastination. I am greatly skilled at it.

Some of the other things I've been doing to avoid doing other things: watching awesome TV shows such as The West Wing, Gilmore Girls, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries and ohhhhh so many other shows. But may I just mention I love WHITE COLLAR. Coolest. TV show. Ever.
I mean what can beat a sexy art thief who's also a bit of a romantic?  Nothing. Nothing at all. I rest my case.

I've also been reading Neruda and many many recipes online to decide what I will bake this weekend to put off studying for my Legal Studies essay. It is a toss up at the moment. Citrus butter cookies or chocolate whoopie pies with a peanut butter filling.

If you are still reading this by now I am exceptionally impressed, you deserve a pat on the back.

Cinnamon Rolls... and hi there!

This weekend I was meant to be doing... SO MANY THINGS!

There was homework and work related things and I don't really remember due to the lack of attention I usually pay as the week wears onwards, however, I didn't actually do any of that. Instead, I decided to do what I have been doing every weekend for the past two or three months, procrastinate via baking. Procrastibake!

So far in my adventures in baking I've made lots of different kinds of cookies, a few cupcakes and some different types of popcorn like cinnamon and caramel. I have also got really annoyed at the fact that so many of the awesome recipes I find have ingredients you can't get in Australia. Its very frustrating.

However, this week I decided to do something I haven't done before, so I made something with yeast in it. And ohmysweetgoodness was it fun when the dough rose! I did some kind of weird happy dance thing while squealing that made my family begin to wonder if I was accidentally switched with another baby in the hospital as a child.

I wish I could show you some cool pictures of the cinnamon rolls in the making but I can't. What I can do is show you a picture of the delicious delicious results and tell you that pretty much everyone who ate one has now decided we are very very good friends and I should make them more for their birthday.

This was made with the recipe on The Pioneer Woman's website. May I just say, this may possibly be my favourite website for recipes? Its truly awesome.

So these were peanut butter and chocolate cookies that I made massive jars of for my friends birthdays. This weekend I don't know what I'll be making but I think that as I have a BIG test in my Global Politics class next week I will be stressed and therefore I'm thinking cake. Cake with totally help me forget that studying is important.

So now to introduce myself. I am a high school student from Australia who is under massive pressure at a crazy academic school. Therefore I choose to ignore all the required stress a lot of the time, choosing to bake instead of doing actual work. I will also more than likely talk about reading or writing at some point on this blog. I love to read to ridiculous extents and love to write as well. So much so that writing is my ideal future, otherwise I am aiming to be one of those most hated people: A lawyer.

I hope to share some of my adventures in baking, maybe eventually cooking, and of course reading and writing which will probably mean some book reviews. I'm kind of opinionated, so when I read something awesome I feel the need to share.

I hope you don't mind if I just randomly explode about whatever I'm thinking at the time on here but hopefully I will be able to post pictures and recipes at least once a week of something delicious.

Thanks for reading this. You look very pretty today.
